Meet Linda Joseph-Noel
CANDIDATE | NORTH MIAMI BEACH CITY COMMISSION, GROUP 4
Linda Joseph-Noel is an unwavering champion for the people and a fearless voice for justice across race, class, and community. Born in Haiti and raised in Miami, Florida, she embodies the resilience, faith, and determination that shape both her heritage and her life’s work.
A proud graduate of Barry University, Linda earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and attended Florida Memorial University where she co-founded the Florida Memorial Haitian Student Alliance — an early expression of her leadership and lifelong commitment to empowering others. Linda’s community involvement grew from campus organizing to forming statewide and national movements, where she became known for her ability to mobilize diverse coalitions and turn bold vision into lasting victories by bringing people together.
Her belief in the transformative power of the people is deeply personal and rooted in her own family’s story. Linda is the daughter of a Haitian immigrant who worked as a school custodian and was a proud union member. Through his hard work, her father was able to buy a home, retire with dignity, and provide opportunities for his family that once felt out of reach. For her, this work is not abstract policy; it is the living promise of the American dream made possible through empowering others.
One of Linda’s most impactful achievements came as Political Director for Florida’s historic Fight for $15 campaign. She led the statewide strategy to pass Amendment 2 in 2021, mobilizing a broad, multiracial coalition of workers, unions, and community partners. The campaign secured a 61% statewide victory, raising Florida’s minimum wage to $15 an hour and improving the lives of millions of workers. This landmark win made Florida the first state in the South to adopt a $15 minimum wage — setting a national precedent for workers’ rights.
Today, Linda continues this mission through her work helping drive national strategies to expand power, and advance policy change across industries for working Americans.
Guided by the words of Psalm 82:3 and Isaiah 1:17 — “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed” — Linda Joseph-Noel leads with purpose, passion, faith and conviction. A true trailblazer, she honors her father’s legacy every day.
A Trustee of the City of North Miami Beach General Employees Retirement Board and an active advocate in our local community — Linda is ready and running to serve as our next North Miami Beach City Commissioner in Group 4!
